Cupcakes for Buddha Day

I have made these cupcakes and decorated them in a style which uses ideas from the pictures of Buddhist festivals in Bhutan. I made the spiral from edible rice paper and added sweets. I love the bright clashing colours and patterns in Buddhist Art. I have tried to get the feel of this in each cupcake. I have added sweet kebabs to the plate and other sweets with bright colours. Since I was small I have always liked the little cocktail parasols. These remind me of those types of parasols that are used in Buddhist festivals so I added them to the decoration of the cupcakes. The whole idea came from the hats worn in the Bhutan Festivals in the previous post. The background shows some coloured prayer flags I brought back from Bhutan. I will go over each cupcake again in detail in the next post.
